Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

A Donor Advised Fund, or DAF, is a simple way to manage your charitable giving. A DAF allows individuals or families to contribute money or assets and receive a tax deduction at the time they contribute. These funds can be invested and used later to recommend grants to qualified nonprofits like InTandem.

If you make a gift to InTandem Cycling through a DAF and choose not to donate anonymously, please let us know by emailing info@intandembike.org so that we can thank you for your commitment to helping us ride.

DAFs offer simplicity and flexibility — grants can be made at any time, for any amount. If you already have a DAF, giving is easy: log in to your DAF provider, search for InTandem Cycling, Inc. (EIN: 46-3557593), and recommend a grant.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA

If you plan on making a gift to charity this year, consider using your IRA.

The requirements:

  • You must be 70½ or older when making a QCD.
  • The gift, up to $100,000, must come from an IRA or Inherited IRA.
  • The distribution must go directly from the financial institution to the charity.

The benefits:

  • Unlike other IRA distributions, a QCD is not taxable income to you. This can result in tax savings even if you take the standard deduction on your federal tax return.
  • A QCD can be used to satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) each year. (Note: The age for RMDs was recently raised to 72; however, you may still make QCD gifts starting the year you turn 70½.)

Please send QCD gifts to the address below and include your name and address so that we can properly credit your gift:

InTandem Cycling, Inc.
PO Box 647
New York, NY 10021

InTandem Cycling’s tax ID number is 46-3557593. Questions? Contact us at info@intandembike.org.

Tandem Bike Donations

We also accept tandem bike donations. We have limited space so we are not able to accept all donations. Please send us photos of your bike to info@intandembike.org and include as much info as possible on the bike including the make and model and when you purchased the bike. Our mechanic will review the photos and determine if we are able to accept the donation. If you live in the New York City Metropolitan area, we will ask that you bring the bike to a meetup spot just outside of Central Park where we will accept the donation. If you do not live in the area, we will ask that you kindly ship the bike to us and we will provide a donation receipt that includes the approximate value of the bike along with shipping costs.
